The SMU commitment will be enrolling early at SMU, starting January 11th. Preston, who has been visiting Dallas the past few days, will head back to LA to say his good byes, then fly back to Dallas where he will sign his LOI and move into the dorms.
The senor quarterback has gotten a first hand look at SMU the last few days, as they prepared for Army in the Armed Forces Bowl.
"I really enjoyed seeing them practice on Wednesday. I got a better look at how the coaches and players interact," said Preston to PonyStampede.com after Thursday afternoon's loss. "I felt like the defense played really well, holding Army to 10 points.
"The offensive line played well and I was really impressed with Zach Line. He runs really hard and doesn't go down very easily. It was really cool to see the game-day environment and sell out crowd at Ford Stadium."
While Preston had visited SMU on multiple occasions, this was the first time the future Mustang was able to see the few days leading up to a game.
The 2011 commitment finished his prep career at Serra (CA) 29-1 as a starting quarterback. Preston and the Cavilers lost in the CIF State Championship to Folsom.
