Moreland Makes Final Scout300

The final Scout300 is out for the class of 2011 and 4-star linebacker Davon Moreland made the list. Where does he rank among all the players across the country? Come inside for the answers.

After post season all-stars games the updated Scout300 rankings have been released today. Regional managers from all over the country were able to come together in Dallas at the coaches convention last week to set the final rankings.

One SMU who found himself on the list is Bishop Mora Salesian defensive end/linebacker Davon Moreland. The 6-foot-3, 225 pound pass rusher checked in at No. 293 overall and is now currently the No. 21 outside linebacker in the country.

"I can remember thinking when he committed. I can understand Conner Preston going to SMU. He likes to throw and June Jones likes to throw, but Devon Moreland, that came out of nowhere," said West Coast Regional Manager Brandon Huffman. "Every recruiting analyst, every network, and every Pac-10 coach thought there was no way he would stick with his SMU commitment....Five months later he hasn't take any official visits to any other schools, but SMU. It's been easily one of the biggest recruiting surprises this season in California."

Moreland chose SMU over offers from USC, UCLA, Texas A&M,Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, and more.

"Devon's a guy who has a motor always running. It's always going at 100 miles an hour. It never stops. It's something we can't coach as coaches," stated Bishop Mora Salesian head Roddy Haitt to the Los Angles Times.

Moreland was recruited to SMU by offensive line coach Adrian Klemm. Moreland is one of six California players Klemm has received a verbal commitment from.

Signing day is Wednesday, February 2nd.
