McKnight has never coached running backs during his career, but is looking forward to the opportunity in the professional ranks once again.
"You always dream to be at the highest level of whatever you do," said McKnight in a phone interview with the Toronto Sun.
McKnight coached for three seasons at SMU, the last two as the special teams coach. Prior to SMU, McKnight was the offensive line coach at Hawaii with June Jones.
The Mustangs will look to break in a whole new special teams unit in 2011. Placekicker/punter Matt Szymanski also graduated, leaving SMU two major new faces on special teams this spring.
Stay tuned with Scout.com as it is expected the Mustangs fill the role before spring practices.
