LaGasse gives SMU pledge

SMU's second 2012 commitment is in the books, as Austin (TX) Lake Travis defensive back Collin LaGasse has committed to the Mustangs. Come inside to find out why he pulled the trigger.

It's only March, but the SMU Mustangs current recruiting weekend is shaping up to be one of the biggest this year.

On Friday night, they received some good news from one of their visitors, when Austin (TX) Lake Travis defensive back Collin LaGasse gave his pledge to SMU.

"I committed to SMU," said LaGasse in a text message to Scout.com. "Coach Hill has been recruiting me for a year and I've always thought SMU would be a good fit. I knew the academics were great and football is on the rise.

"Today's visit was great. I got to meet all the coaches. It verified this was the place for me."

The 2012 recruit also had an offer from Rice and was getting interest from Texas Tech, Baylor, and North Texas.

Seeing limited time in the secondary as a junior, he recorded 38 tackles, three interceptions (one for a touchdown), a tackle for a loss, and a sack.
