4-star OT gets the nod
It started with Keller Central offensive lineman Simon Goines. The 4-star product was on the Hilltop just a few weeks ago, but left without an offer. The Mustangs wanted to see how interested the junior really was.
Apparently they feel that nationally ranked NO. 35 offensive tackle has some interest. Goines has been calling Klemm once a week to always check in.
Nationally ranked top five receiver offered
After getting off the phone with Goines, Klemm later talked with Crockett high school 4-star wide receiver Dominique Wheeler. The junior has some nice offers, including: Baylor, TCU, Texas A&M, Auburn, and once Texas (they pulled it after getting multiple wide receiver commitments).
"I was happy about the offer. I'm glad they offered. I had a lot of interest in them because Jagared Davis goes there. He's also from Crockett," said Wheeler. "He was a senior there when I was a freshman. I can always talk to him about the school.
"I think I could really flourish in their system. I just need to go down there and check out the facilities."
Wheeler is currently rated the No. 2 wide receiver in the state, behind Texas commitment Cayleb Jones. In the June Jones era, SMU has not had a wide receiver as talented as Wheeler in their offensive scheme.
"I really like Coach Klemm. He was a cool guy and told me a lot about the college. His stuff was really useful. He was just telling me about the formation they run and Coach Jones," said Wheeler. "He also talked about some of the other coaches experiences and how they practice. I'm now going to plan a visit to Dallas."
Wheeler's 2010 stat line is an interesting one. The wide receiver was forced to play quarterback much of the year, after Crockett's starter got hurt.
