FOXSports/Scout.com is pleased to announce that Laken Litman, a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, has moved to Dallas to be the new publisher of PonyStampede.com She will replace Josh Harvey, who recently accepted the same position at Nebraska.
"I am so excited to be the new SMU beat writer for FOXSports/Scout.com," Litman said. "It's so hard to find jobs right now, especially in journalism, and I'm so thankful that I get the opportunity to be in one of the largest sports markets in the country in Dallas covering a Division I program."
Litman, a Dallas native, graduated from Texas with a degree in sports journalism. While there, she covered the Longhorns for The Daily Texan, UT's student newspaper, for four years. She covered almost every sport, including the men's basketball team during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons and the football team last year when they uncharacteristically went 5-7, Mack Brown's first losing season in 13 years in Austin.
While in college, Litman had an internship at Sports Illustrated in New York City where she wrote and reported stories and was published in four different issues, the most recent of which is the Baylor spread in this month's Big 12 Preview. Litman was also the Texas Longhorns correspondent blogger for the Dallas Morning News the past year-and-a-half and did some freelance stringing for the Associated Press.
"I'm extremely passionate about sports and sports writing and am so excited to get started at SMU," Litman said. "I'm grateful to be given the chance to prove myself while giving fans as much of an inside scoop to SMU athletics as I can."
PonyStampede.com will look just like it has the past couple of years while being operated by Harvey.
