Commitment is solid

Any and all uncertainty surrounding Blaise Mbargorba's commitment to SMU post Matt Doherty firing and Larry Brown hiring has been quashed, as the three-star 7-foot center is 100 percent coming to the Hilltop this summer.

After Matt Doherty was fired and Larry Brown was hired, there was some uncertainty surrounding Blaise Mbargorba's commitment to the Mustangs' incoming freshmen class.

The three-star 7-foot center out of The Peddie School (Highstown, NJ) is an essential piece to SMU's 2012 class and also the future of the basketball program with his size, talent and work ethic.

But all speculation has been quashed thanks to a simple text message from Mbargorba:

"I'm still heading to SMU," he said.

Mbargorba said he spoke with Brown over the phone and reassured the Hall of Fame coach that he would be heading to the Hilltop this summer. He said the two also discussed how the team needs to be better next year.

"You can't ask for a better coach, you know?" Mbargorba said.

Mbargorba said Brown wants him on campus ASAP.

"I don't know the date yet, but coach Brown wants me to be there as soon as possible after graduation because I have to take summer classes and get a chance to work out," he said.

His graduation is May 27.
