SMU lands Josiah Turner

Larry Brown and his new staff aren't wasting time on making headlines. As of Friday morning, according to a source close to the program, Arizona transfer Josiah Turner informed the SMU staff he'd be coming to the Hilltop.

Larry Brown and SMU have their first commitment.

As of this morning, per a source close to the program, Arizona transfer Josiah Turner, a former five-star point guard out of Sacramento High School (Sacramento, Calif.), is a Mustang.

Last season as a freshman, Turner was suspended several times before being released from the team for off-court issues. His most recent outburst was being arrested and charged for a DUI.

The 6-foot-3 Turner averaged 6.8 points per game last season. SMU is in need of a point guard after letting former starter Jeremiah Samarrippas go last week.

Turner will have three years of eligibility at SMU.

Crandall Head, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard formerly at Illinois, is expected to visit the Hilltop Monday.
