Larry Brown and his assistants are already making quite a splash in their short time on the Hilltop.
Though Turner will have to sit out a year per NCAA transfer rules, he has a lot of potential and this was a big get for the Mustangs. Turner has a track record for trouble as he was kicked off his team twice freshman year before being suspended, and was most recently arrested and charged with a DUI, but perhaps Brown & Co. can tame the beast in him.
Then over the weekend, SMU hosted two major local 2013 prospects out of Arlington Grace Prep in five-star forward Jordan Mickey and four-star center Karviar Shepherd on unofficial visits. Both have six offers each from the likes of Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, etc.
This week SMU will host Illinois transfer Crandall Head, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard. He is expected on campus either Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday. Word is Head will commit to the Mustangs. He and new assistant coach Jerrance Howard are very close as Howard recruited him while at Illinois.
The Mustangs' staff is also currently working on getting some more local five stars on campus.
The second player is 2014 prospect Emmanuel Mudiay, a point guard—one of the top in the nation—out of Arlington Grace Prep. He has offers from Texas, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma and others.
Stay tuned, more to come. This staff is moving and shaking.
