Player Profile Series: OL Bryan Collins

With fall camp nearing, the PS staff will profile all 22 projected starters throughout July. Today we take a look at senior offensive lineman Bryan Collins.

Bryan Collins

Position: Right Tackle/Guard

Size: 6-3, 313

High School: Keller (TX)

Classification: Senior

2011 Review: Collins started two games in his junior year at right tackle against Tulane and Rice and filled in nicely.

Both were wins for SMU and Collins kept the offensive line rolling as the senior group protected a hobbled J.J. McDermott and had a productive rushing attack during his two starts.

Collins has started at least two games each of his three previous years at SMU giving him a good amount of experience.

2011 Grade: B+

2012 Outlook: Collins stepped in for the Ponies in 2011 and his two seasons before that.

For a relatively inexperienced unit with a new quarterback, the line will be crucial to SMU's offensive success as they are expected to challenge for the C-USA Championship in their final year in the conference before heading to the Big East.

Collins has made a commitment to bulking up for the long grind of a season and it showed. Collins was easily one of the bigger offensive linemen on the field for SMU in the spring and his experience was recognizable.

For SMU to head back to a bowl game and win the C-USA title, they will need Collins to step up like he has each of his past three seasons, but this time as one of the most experienced linemen on the team.
