SMU 2013 wide receiver commit JaBryce Taylor was scheduled to visit the Hilltop this past weekend but was unable to make the trip from Lufkin, TX to tour SMU's campus and visit with the coaches during SMU's first practice of fall camp due to a family issue.
Taylor is now looking at either the weekend of August 18th or the weekend of August 25th, but is waiting for the chance to bring his entire family to visit SMU, since it has been since his sophomore year that he was in Dallas to see SMU.
"More than likely I will be going the 24th and 25th because that is when my mom, dad and brother we're all going to be able to go down there together," Taylor said.
When it comes time for Taylor to visit SMU, he's just looking forward to hearing what his role at his new school will be. Not only is touring the campus high up on the list but visiting with the coaches is as well.
"I am going to go back to the athletic department and just talk to the coaches about some more things and get a solid commitment," Taylor said. "I am verbally committed, but I am just keeping an open mind to everything."
Taylor continued to say that he has not gotten any new offers, new interest from schools or anything that would ever change his commitment to SMU.
"I just want to go down there and talk to the coaches about my role and where I will be playing down there and where I will fit in," Taylor said.
Once Taylor visits SMU, his only focus will be helping his team make a run at a district title and return once again to the playoffs.
Lufkin starts its fall camp on Monday, and Taylor couldn't be more excited to be back for his senior season. Taylor's team goes into the season ranked No. 23 in 5A by Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine, are picked to finish second in 14-5A this season and are predicted to make the postseason for the 15th straight season.
"Anytime I can get a ball coming towards me, it's a great thing," Taylor said about getting back onto the field. "I know this is my last year to showcase all my talent and go out there for the last time to show all the fans what I can do."
