SMU Offensive Line Commit Still Solid

Pittsburgh (TX) offensive lineman Brian Taylor is still solid on his commitment to SMU and plans to make a visit soon

Although summer might be coming to an end, it doesn't mean that offensive lineman Brian Taylor's feelings about SMU have wavered in the slightest since he committed in May.

"I still feel as strongly about it as I did the day I called them and told them I would (commit)," Taylor said on Wednesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound tackle says that he's been talking to his recruiter often and is trying to make an appearance on the Hilltop when his schedule opens up.

Taylor says that defensive line coach Bert Hill has been in close contact with him and has been urging him to come to one of SMU's practices. However, Taylor has had his nose to the grindstone this summer and has not had the opportunity.

"I talked to Coach Hill I believe it was last week," Taylor said. "He's just telling me he's excited for me, and he wants me to come down there and watch some practices. I'm going to try to. I have two-a-days going on right now but I plan on it."

Taylor, who says visited SMU this spring, enjoyed his first time on the Hilltop and was impressed by the school's athletics as well as academics.

"I just liked the facilities. I liked all the coaches and from what I hear, the faculty up there's real nice. It just seems like I can get a great education there," Taylor said.

Taylor says that his high school is expected to finish third in the district in 2012, but he has been working to get himself in the best condition to help them be even better.

"I've been lifting weights and running a lot just trying to get in shape so I'm able to help my team out in any way I can."

Taylor has not picked up any other offers and says he doesn't ‘plan on listening' even if new ones come his way this fall.
