Taylor recaps SMU visit

SMU wide receiver commit JaBryce Taylor was on the Hilltop for an unofficial visit this past weekend

JaBryce Taylor was finally able to visit SMU Saturday with his family. The 2013 wide receiver commit picked up some SMU gear and proved again that his commitment is stronger than ever.

"It went good. Got a lot out of it. It was everything I was expecting it to be. I'm just glad I made the trip," Taylor said.

Taylor did not take an official visit with a meeting with the coaches and touring, but he did walk around campus exploring buildings and showing his family the scenery.

"I just walked around the campus and really didn't stay up there long because I had to get back because we had a football game the day before so I had to get back for film. It was really a turn around trip," Taylor said.

Taylor's family came away impressed with everything at SMU and the way the coaches ensure their son is cared for.

"They liked it. They liked just how they make you feel welcome and wanted up there at SMU," Taylor said.

The visit for Taylor's family was so quick that he was unable to visit with coaches but did reach out to them about possibly being able to meet. However, Taylor was unable to get to see them though due to time constraints.

"I really didn't talk to the coaches that much. I just let them know that I was going to be up there. They said if I could make it through to holler at them," Taylor said.

Taylor is trying to make it back to campus for the SMU vs. Stephen F. Austin game, where his cousin and a few former teammates go to school.

For now, Taylor is focusing on his senior season at Lufkin. Taylor and his teammates had a scrimmage recently and are in the full swing of things. Taylor is looking to be back on campus for a couple of games, but his only firm plans are for the SFA game, SMU's first home game on Sept. 8.
