Lufkin (TX) wide receiver and SMU commit JaBryce Taylor was on the Hilltop this past weekend to watch the Mustangs clobber Stephen F. Austin and came away with nothing but good things to say about the SMU football program.
Taylor had a chance to talk to some of the coaches and players throughout his visit, and was able to gain a better understanding of his role and how he will fit into the offense once he gets on the Hilltop next year.
"I had a really nice time, I knew it was going to be a pretty easy game," he said. "I had a great time with the coaches and watching the team that I'm going to be a part of next year.
"I was in the Hall of Champions and all the coaches came up there and they just talked to me for a couple of minutes. When we all went down to the field, I got to talk to Garrett Gilbert and had a few words with him."
Overall when exchanging words with the SMU coaching staff before the game, Taylor said he was told in depth of how the coaches plan to utilize him once he joins the team.
Taylor enjoyed his visit so much, he hopes to return to the SMU campus as soon as he can but first has to work out some scheduling issues.
"I'm going to try to make it up to the SMU-Texas A&M game, but I don't really think I'll be able to make that," Taylor said. "I'm going to try to work with their football schedule and my football schedule and see if I can make it up to one of their games."
When asked to characterize his commitment to SMU, he said he remains solid towards the Mustangs, and has no plans to switch his commitment.
