Roberson Makes Official Visit

Four-star hoops prospect Tyler Roberson was on the Hilltop for an official visit this past weekend. Did he enjoy his trip?

Four-star Roselle (N.J.) Catholic forward Tyler Roberson made a trip to SMU for an official visit this past weekend to spend time with the coaches and learn more about the program. Roberson enjoyed seeing Dallas and where the program is headed.

"I got to hang out with the team, talk with the coaches, see the school and just have fun. It was nice," Roberson said.

Roberson would be a huge land for this recruiting class after SMU lost out on the Jordan Mickey sweepstakes last week when he committed to LSU. Dinner at Texas De Brazil may have helped.

"It was good. It was something new, but it was good," said Roberson about eating at the Texas steakhouse with the staff.

Roberson knew a lot about SMU, but wanted to hear more about the program's direction and what SMU has to offer as a school.

"Just getting a chance to talk more with the coaches about the program and just learning more about it and seeing if it's a good school that I would like to go to," Roberson said.

Roberson recently trimmed his list to six and will be finishing up his visits in hopes of deciding where he will go in the fall signing period, but could take more time and push his decision to the spring.

After picking up an offer from Kentucky recently, Roberson wants to make sure he researches all the schools to make sure he picks the right one.

"I just cut my list to six and they were in it so I'm going to take a visit (to Kentucky) and just take the other visits to schools that I have planned and see what I like best and choose where I want to go," Roberson said.

Roberson has a top six, but not a favorite school at this point. On October 5, Roberson will travel to Syracuse to look at Jim Boeheim's program and learn more about the school itself.

"I already know what to expect with the program and everything," Roberson said. "Now, it is about going down there to see the school and get a better feel for the school, but I already know a lot about the way they play and everything."

SMU is very much in the mix for Roberson, but will have to beat out other high-profile schools like Kentucky, Syracuse, Kansas and Alabama to name a few to secure his services. Larry Brown and company have been working extremely hard to stay in contact and bring in this talented and versatile forward to the Hilltop for the 2013 class.
