Hines Recaps SMU Visit

Three-star LB Brandon Hines was recently on the Hilltop for an unofficial visit. How did his conversation with June Jones go?

Brandon Hines just can't get enough of SMU.

After visiting for the Houston game and picking up an offer just a few days later, the Dallas Kimball linebacker was back on the Hilltop for another unofficial visit and was impressed with SMU's big homecoming win over Memphis.

"It was pretty cool. I got introduced to a lot of alumni and spoke to a bunch of redshirt freshmen. They all told me that SMU was on the rise and that it was a great place to be," Hines said. "I really liked how the squad battled back, and the boulevard was crazy. There was a lot of excitement"

Teammates Prentavious Morehead and Teriyon Gipson were also expected to make the trip but both had to cancel due to personal reasons. But Hines made the most of his visit and even got an opportunity to speak to SMU head coach June Jones.

"I made it right when the game started so I didn't get to go down on the field or anything," Hines said. "I did get to talk to June Jones for a little bit after the game. We shook hands, and I told him congrats. He told me that he was glad to see me there then he walked off. I waited for Coach (Jason) Phillips, but I guess he got busy."

While Hines says he has no favorite at the moment, SMU is in his top-3. The three-star prospect does not expect to make a decision until December.

"It makes logical sense for me to commit to SMU," Hines said. "But I still have my options open. I want to take all of my officials first. A school is really going to have to impress me for me to commit before December."

Hines has already scheduled official visits to Colorado State and New Mexico State. He also hopes to set up trips to Baylor, SMU and Texas A&M.
