Future SMU Mustang Travis Fister cannot wait to finally become an official member of the SMU football team and got to experience what life on the Hilltop was like this past weekend when he took his official visit.
Fister, a 6-foot-3, 270 pound offensive linemen out of Salpointe (AZ) said he had been looking forward to his visit and finally had the chance to talk to fellow recruits and SMU coaches.
"It was really nice," he said. "Having the chance to talk to some coaches and meet the other recruits was really nice I hung out with Carlos Carroll, Deion Sanders Jr., and Kolney Cassel."
Fister , who was hosted by SMU offensive lineman Joey Fonatana, also said meeting his future teammates was really important because he wants to develop better chemistry before they arrive on campus together and admitted that before he met them, he did have some nerves.
"It's nice to now know my future teammates better," Fister said. "At first, I was nervous about meeting them but after a while, it was just like hanging out with friends."
Fister, whose been committed to SMU since June, also had a chance to talk to head coach June Jones and liked what he heard about the opportunity that awaits him on the Hilltop.
"I had a chance to talk to June Jones one-on-one which was really nice." he said, "Coach Jones said he is really excited about me coming to SMU and said I will have a chance to compete for playing time right away."
When asked if his commitment to SMU was 100 percent, Fister quickly responded with a resounding ‘yes.' Fister also expects great things out of SMU in the upcoming Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, and says he will definitely watch and expects the Ponies to be victorious.
