McMillon Holds SMU Offer

2014 Abilene defensive end Jake McMillon recently picked up an SMU offer and plans to attend junior day. Details inside!

SMU already has two players from Abilene on its roster and could be adding another one in the near future after Mustang defensive line coach Bert Hill extended an offer to defensive end Jake McMillon.

"Coach Hill actually called me over break and gave the offer in mid-December. It was really exciting," he said. "He came down the other week to watch me work out. I got to talk to him for a little bit, and he told me to keep up the good work."

McMillon says he's extremely interested and made an unofficial visit to SMU when the Ponies took on Texas A&M last season. Although SMU was blown out, McMillon enjoyed his time on the Hilltop.

"They did lose, but I had a really good time. I really liked it," he said. "I think SMU is a good school. The campus and the facilities are all really nice. It's a great academic school as well."

The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, who also holds an offer from Texas State, will be back at SMU in a few weeks when he attends junior day on February 16 and hopes to get more in-depth look at the entire program.

"I'm definitely going to junior day. I'm ready to get down there," he said. "I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about SMU. I actually played with Ronnell Sims and Darius Joseph so I'm going to be giving them a call soon to get their opinion on SMU. But I'm really excited about it."

Known for his non-stop motor, McMillon is doing powerlifting this spring in hopes of getting stronger and adding more offers. McMillon says he's simply in the ‘stages of looking around' but SMU is an early favorite.

McMillon has received junior day invites from Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech and has also visited TCU.
