Future Mustang Ben Moore recently capped off an impressive senior season, by leading Bolingbrook (IL) to an impressive 20-7 record.
Moore, who saw his stock shoot up this past summer during the AAU circuit, came into this season with doubters who wondered if he would continue his impressive summer league play for an entire high school season, and Moore didn't disappoint.
However, Moore was not completely satisfied with his senior campaign, as his goal of a state championship fell short. Moore scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Raiders' ended the season with a 72-59 loss to Oswego in the Class 4A Batavia Regional final over the weekend.
"We played well at some points and played bad at some points," he said. "We had a tough schedule, but got better throughout the season which was a good thing."
Moore spoke highly of fellow Chicagoan Sterling Brown and says he cannot wait to play with him at SMU, rather than against him as he has done in the past.
"He is a great player, which is not surprising because that's the kind of person SMU recruits." he said, "Sterling is great on and off the court, like all of the SMU recruits."
One of those recruits is Ben Moore's high school teammate Prentiss Nixon, a sophomore who is already sought after by every Big 10 school. But Moore hopes Nixon joins him on the Hilltop in a few years.
Now that his high school career is over, Moore is ecstatic about getting to the Hilltop this summer and having the opportunity to play college basketball.
"I'm really excited to get down to work. The coaches are going to push me and make me better which I am excited for," he said. "I can't wait to play for Coach (Larry) Brown. I know I am going to learn a lot on and off the court."
But in the meantime, Moore is focused on getting ready for the more physical college style and says his main offseason goals are to get more active on the boards.
