Williams Excited About SMU Offer

SMU extended an offer to Fort Lauderdale linebacker Jaboree' Williams earlier this week. Is he interested? Come inside to find out!

Wednesday started out like any other day for Fort Lauderdale (FL) linebacker Jaboree' Williams.

He went to class and made his way to workouts. But in the afternoon, he received a surprise phone call from SMU defensive backs coach Derrick Odum, who extended an offer.

"My conversation with Coach Odum was amazing," Williams said. "He told me about SMU's great academics and how the program is on the rise. He said I could make a big impact there."

Williams, who also holds an offer from Memphis, admits he doesn't know too much about SMU but made it clear distance is not a factor, and he is interested learning more about the program.

"The biggest thing I know about SMU is that Eric Dickerson went there," he said. "From what Coach Odum told me, the program is slowly building back up, and they are supposed to be one of the top programs in the Big East this year. Getting a chance to play back in Florida would be great."

Williams will not be attending SMU's second junior day next month but confirmed that he will be on the Hilltop for a camp this summer. Georgia, Florida and Marshall have been showing strong interest, and Williams hopes more offers will come his way before he makes the journey to Dallas.

For now, the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder is focused on his senior season after an impressive junior campaign that saw him rack up 105 tackles, nine sacks and five interceptions.

"Even though I had a great season, I wasn't satisfied," Williams said. "I need to step up as a leader this year and make sure we play as a team. I feel like I can read fast, and I have great reaction time. I just want to get stronger and faster."
