Last weekend, FB Austin's Sean Aboderin proved he's one of the top quarterbacks in the state by earning one of five golden guns at the Elite 11 Regional, which featured over 80 participants.
Aboderin followed that up with a strong performance at the Nike Football Training Camp at Eagle Stadium in Allen on Sunday.
"I feel like I really did well at the Elite 11. I was really happy with my performance, and I was glad to be able to learn from a guy like Trent Dilfer," Aboderin said. "I started off a little slow at the camp then I picked it up and did good."
Aboderin currently holds no offers but feels SMU could come calling soon. At junior day a few months ago, SMU quarterbacks coach Dan Morrison told the 6-foot-1, 210-pound signal caller that two quarterbacks would be taken in 2014 so he is remaining optimistic.
"I talked to Coach (Wes) Suan after the Elite 11 competition, and he told me he was really excited for me," Aboderin said. "I talk to him weekly, and he's really honest. He said him and Coach (Dan) Morrison would be down to see me next month and then decide."
While in Dallas, Aboderin and teammate Vic Enwere wanted to stop by SMU for an unofficial visit but the duo was informed that coaches were out of town, and they instead headed west to check out TCU.
"TCU was great. I really liked it out there. They also said they were going to come watch me in the spring," he said. "I really hope they offer. I also visited Rice after spring break, and they told me I was at the top of their list."
Colorado State, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss are also showing interest, but SMU remains Aboderin's favorite.
"SMU is still at the top of my list," he said. "They have shown a lot of interest, and I have a good relationship with Coach Suan. I also really liked what I saw on junior day. I'm just staying patient and waiting for an offer."
