SMU Still In The Mix For Rogers

2015 Hebron OL Zach Rogers holds multiple BCS offers and was on the Hilltop for junior day earlier this spring. Where does SMU stand? Come inside to find out!

Zach Rogers is one of the hottest names in the Class of 2015, and the Hebron offensive lineman showed why at the Nike Football Training Camp in Allen earlier this month.

The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder overpowered the opposition in an array off different drills and also displayed athleticism and quick feet.

"I felt good," he said. "It's great coming to these things because you know you're going against quality competition and when you beat somebody, it feels even better because you know they're great players."

Rogers currently holds six offers and many more are expected to come his way before his senior season next fall. For now, Rogers is doing as much research as he can on all schools showing interest and just enjoying the recruiting process.

SMU has not offered Rogers, but the Ponies are showing plenty of interest and extended a junior day invite back in February.

"SMU was really nice. I was at a camp last summer, but junior day let me see everything more up close," Rogers said. "I really liked the facilities and the campus. You could tell it wasn't a BCS school, but it was still nice. It was definitely worth the trip down there."

While on campus, Rogers met with his recruiter, SMU defensive line coach Bert Hill, who has maintained contact throughout the last couple of months.

"I got to talk with Coach Hill, and he's kept in contact since then. He's a really nice coach, and I like him so far," he said. "He told me that SMU is very interested in me and what I can bring, and he wants to keep building a relationship."

Rogers says he currently has no favorites but SMU is very much in the race with schools like Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech.
