SMU Offers Houston-Area Offensive Lineman

Clear Falls OL Cole Anderson talks about his new offer inside!

SMU has recently taken in the commitments of two offensive linemen, totaling three in 2014. In a position in current need, June Jones and offensive line coach Wes Suan are still continuing their search to add another to this class.

Among the linemen being targeted is Clear Falls offensive tackle Cole Anderson, who recently had a phone conversation with Suan and eventually picked up an offer on Tuesday afternoon.

"Coach Suan, the offensive line coach, called me and invited me down to take an unofficial visit sometime this summer. He told me they have one spot left for an offensive lineman in the class," Anderson said. "I wasn't sure if he offered, but when he e-mailed me today to confirm it, I was really excited."

Despite a little confusion, Anderson is highly interested in the Mustang program and says SMU is definitely in the mix.

"Of course, they have great academics and are close to home so I'm definitely interested," he said. "As for my list, I don't really have any leaders, but SMU has to be considered."

Anderson, who stands at 6-foot-5, 264-pounds, holds double digit offers and says Iowa State and Rice have been recruiting him the hardest.

No matter where he looks, Anderson has pinpointed a few key aspects of what's important to him in a football program and school.

"I don't care where I play, so I wouldn't mind going far away from home," he said. "Obviously academics are important and a school with a high prestige football program."

As of now, Anderson is focused mainly on preparing for the upcoming football season, rather than trying to figure out when he will make his final decision.

"I feel really good about my game technically, so I've been hitting the weight room and track mostly," he said. "I'm not to sure exactly when I'll decide. The earliest would be at the end of summer, but definitely not anytime soon."
