Recruitment: Ranked as a three-star by most recruiting services, Weeks was mostly known as a raw prospect coming out of high school, one that played inconstantly but when he put his combination of size and skill together was very effective. Weeks received his lone scholarship offer from former recruiter Adrian Klemm, and committed to the Mustangs. He also received interest from the likes of Texas Tech and Baylor.
2012 Review: After redshirting in 2011, Weeks saw action in six games last year, including his first career start against Stephen F. Austin.
2013 Outlook: Coming into spring practices this past year; Weeks had every opportunity to win the job for starting at right guard. Weeks seemed to add size to his frame and looked much improved throughout the spring. He was listed as the starting right guard after spring practices concluded.
But things got complicated for Weeks once Texas transfer Thomas Aschcraft decided to come to the Hilltop. Ashcraft, also a guard, will end up starting at either the left or right side this fall, meaning he will take the starting job away from either Weeks or fellow sophomore Sam Rice.
Both Weeks and Rice have very limited playing time on their resumes but due to the fact that Weeks was able to redshirt, and add some size to his frame, don't be surprised if Weeks ends up beating out Rice for the starting job opposite Ashcraft, giving SMU two very big guards.
