How It Happened:The Mustangs battled against adversity all day long, but in the end, could not overcome Houston's three-point shooting and lost 68-64. Forward Markus Kennedy rolled his ankle but made a quick return after a short trip to the locker room. Nic Moore did not hit a field goal (0-8 on the day) and was a non-factor the entire game. Houston shot 47 percent from the three-point line and countered all of SMU's attacks. After a strong showing in the first half for the Mustangs, SMU showed they have a long way to go before they can be taken seriously.
What It Means:Thankfully the Mustangs built up a solid resume throughout the season, so they will have their name called come Selection Sunday. Unfortunately, the loss means the Mustangs will likely drop as low as a 10 seed. The Mustangs have lost three in a row, which is the longest losing streak of the season for them.
Side Note:Markus Kennedy rolled his ankle but returned, so don't expect him to miss any playing time. Keith Frazier had one of his best showings of the season, shooting 3-4 from the field totaling 8 points.
Up Next:The Mustangs will take the long flight back to Dallas and wait until Sunday to see where they will be seeded. SMU is a lock to make the tournament, but the loss does hurt them in a big way.
