How it Happened:The Mustangs used a huge second half surge to comeback and defeat Clemson in the NIT semifinals, 65-59. After trailing by 12 at halftime, the Mustangs, led by Markus Kennedy, dominated the Tigers on the glass and played terrific defense to get the win and advance. Kennedy finished with 21 points and nine rebounds on 8 for 13 shooting to lead his team to victory. SMU won the second half 39-21 and shot 47 percent for the game. The Mustangs also dominated the glass 34-26 and made clutch free throws. Nic Moore had 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists in another great game for the sophomore point guard.
What it Means:The Mustangs season continues as they advance to the NIT Championship game.
Side Note: The Mustangs are now 3-2 at neutral sites this season. They play at MSG again on Thursday.
