Dallas' elite quarterbacks were out at AT&T Stadium Sunday for the Elite 11 competition and one of the biggest names was Cedar Hill quarterback Justin McMillan, who just recently has been hearing from SMU.
"They had a coach come down to our school to talk to us, so I gave them a call the other day, and I got to talk to the DB coach (Derrick Odum)," McMIllan said. "He said he likes the way I play and my playing style. He said he wants me to come down for a camp."
While SMU has only offered Kyle Kearns at quarterback for the 2015 class, McMillan is definitely a name to watch as he led Cedar Hill to the 5A D2 state title last year.
McMillan only has an offer from Arkansas State and even though he doesn't know too much about SMU, McMillan is interested in knowing more.
"I don't know too much about them right now, but I'm starting to find out a little bit more," the 6-2, 180 pound quarterback said. "I want to learn more about their school, football and just how they run their program. I think I would like it there."
"I talk to Arkansas State often. I really like the conversations I've had with them," McMillan said. "I'm excited about going down there to visit and seeing how the campus and the facilities look. I just want to see where I can find a good coaching staff and a family that fits me. But Arkansas State is definitely up there."
After passing for over 2,300 yards, rushing for another 250 and scoring 32 touchdowns, McMillan is focused more on his leadership for his senior year campaign to get Cedar Hill back to the state championship.
"I definitely expect to be the leader of this team. We would all like to repeat and win another state championship," McMillan said. "Our goal is to keep the dynasty at Cedar Hill going, so we are all working really hard this offseason to make sure that happens."
After the Mustangs' DFW Blitz, SMU is trying to get to more DISD schools to build relationships and Cedar Hill is a school that should be at the top of the relationship-building list.
McMillan should be one of the top quarterback prospects to watch this season after a solid performance at the Elite 11.
