Spotlight: Linebackers

The linebackers had a good day of practice today as Kevin Pope continues to work his way back into the inside linebacker spot. He looked to be comfortable today in practice but one thing he will need to adjust to is dropping back into coverage. Pope was good against the run today but looked hesitant dropping back in coverage. Robert Seals got in the action late in practice with an interception off of Kolney Cassel that he ran back after breaking a tackle.

Practice Quick Hits

Jeremiah Gaines caught a nice pass from Kolney Cassel over the middle and was able to tuck it away for a touchdown.

— Team didn't set up for special teams correctly, as a result they had to alternate running and doing push-ups for punishment.

— Practice ended in dramatic fashion with dramatic music playing for an entire song before SMU grad assistant A.J. Smith emerged from the tunnel. He ran a couple routes against Randall Joyner, Joyner picked him off once.

— Rick Hart was at practice today

— Tim Davis was visibly upset with the energy level of a few of the lineman today, also had one careless mistake where a lineman didn't come out to line up on the field.

— Other than his interception, Garrett Krstich had a good practice today completing a lot of throws in rhythm, especially to Deion Sanders Jr.

K.C. Nlemchi was running extremely hard in practice today.

— Krstich was under a fair amount of pressure today in practice

— Hayden Greenbauer picked off Matt Davis on what had to be a miscommunication, nobody was close.

— Greenbauer had another pick off Krstich on a deep ball over the middle.

— Kevin Pope has switched over to a white jersey for linebacker, where he worked exclusively today.

— Robert Seals had an interception off Cassel.

Myles Crosby made a nice break on the ball to break up a pass intended for Sanders, Jr.

John Bordano undercut a route on a pass from Krstich and almost picked him off.

Darrion Richardson made a nice play to stop Cedric Lancaster short of the goal line.

A.J. Justice finished practice with an interception.

— Sanders, Jr, Lancaster and Malone saw time returning punts today.

— Lancaster did muff one of the punts.
