Jarrey Foster Signs with SMU!

Hatts talked with Jarrey Foster, who put pen to paper and made it official that he's coming to SMU!

2015 Houston North Shore (TX) wing Jarrey Foster finally fulfilled a dream that he has had since the beginning of his basketball career.

Foster made his commitment to SMU official Wednesday and was certainly thrilled the day finally came.

“I’ve been waiting for this day since I committed, and I’ve been looking forward to it since I started playing basketball,” said Foster, “I’ve been looking forward to being with SMU so that makes it much better. I’m looking forward to the good times I’m going to have next year.”

Foster has stayed in touch with SMU assistant Ulric Maligi, as well as, head coach Larry Brown.

“I’ve been staying in contact with coach Ulric Maligi, he’s been my primary recruiter and we’ve built a great relationship, and I’ve also been speaking with coach Brown, I’m real excited,” said the 2015 SMU commit, “I’ve talked to coach K.T while I was on my visit but I haven’t heard from him since, but we plan to talk more. But that’s a great coaching staff, I love them.”

Just three and a half months ago, Foster tore his ACL when his foot got stuck in the court.

His recovery from the scary injury, however, is coming along as well as he could have hoped.

“The rehab is going phenomenal, I’m doing a lot more, I’m jogging about to start running again, I’m jumping, as long as I keep taking my time and listening to what the doctor says, I’ll be back to 100% in no time before you know it,” said Foster.

The original timeline for Foster was nine months but during his rehab the target was moved up to six months.

Since Foster committed to SMU on October 8th, SMU picked up another big piece when Shake Milton committed to SMU, joining Sedrick Barefield and Foster.

“I’m very excited he brings a lot to the table, you know I bring a lot of things to the table, and he brings a lot of different things to the table so it’s definitely looking good, our class that we’re building is looking real good,” said Foster.

Foster likes the way the class is shaping up but thinks SMU has one more need they are planning to fill to round out this class.

“If we can get some bigs that’s really something to look forward to,” said the Houston North Shore forward.

Foster has two visits planned to SMU to see a game but will be at other games this year as well.

“I know for sure I’ll be there Valentines Day against UConn for College Gameday and I’m planning to come down when they play Arkansas. I’ll be there a couple more times but I haven’t figured that out yet.”
