How Foster fits
Jarrey Foster fits well on this team as a long athletic forward that can attack the basket for the Mustangs. Foster is likely going to settle into a rotation with Keith Frazier, Sterling Brown and Ben Emelogu to provide a lot of depth for this team in the coming years. Paired with Keith Frazier, the Mustangs are also going to get a valuable scoring punch from Foster.
What Foster brings
Foster is a very aggressive player and projects as a slasher for the Mustangs. Foster is going to provide a long and athletic forward that could either play the 3 or 4 and guard those guys with ease. Foster made it clear when he committed to SMU he likes to attack the basket on a regular basis. The other area that you can look for Foster to provide a nice boost for this team is on the defensive end of the floor. This has been drilled into Foster since he was a freshman in high school.
What to Expect Freshman Year
Foster is going to be in the mix with a whole host of other players and should see a lot of playing time. I do not foresee him starting as a freshman, but Foster is going to work well with Keith Frazier depending on the game situation and what SMU needs. If SMU is looking for a lift and scoring punch, they will turn to Frazier but defensively, Foster will be the superior option and provide more of an attacking threat for the Mustangs.
Career Expectations for Foster
Down the line, I look for Jarrey Foster to be the best player from this class. That is a bold statement but Foster and Brown is a perfect match. Foster profiles as a player that from day one is focused on defense and attacking the basket. His biggest strength, however, is the cerebral nature he possesses. Foster is a sponge and a smart kid, planning to do engineering at SMU, and will certainly take in absolutely everything that Larry Brown has to teach him. Give him multiple years with coach Brown and even coach Jankovich and I think Foster is destined to do very big things on the Hilltop.
