SMU Falls to UCF 53-7

Demetrio recaps SMU's 53-7 loss to UCF on Saturday.

How it Happened

SMU turned the ball over six times and struggled yet again to do anything offensively. UCF outgained the Mustangs 490 to 116 and won the time of possession battle 40:31 to 16:11. UCF also held a 27 to 4 advantage in first downs. UCF cruised past SMU 53-7.

What it Means

SMU remains winless this season. The last time they finished a season with no wins was in 2003. It took them six seasons to post a winning record again.

Player of the Game

SMU had very little success in any area of the game, but did manage to pressure Justin Holman, thanks to the efforts of John Bordano and Johnathan Yenga. The two combined for 15 tackles and two sacks.

Side Note

Deion Sanders Jr started to get a lot more looks at receiver in the second half. He finished with four catches for 38 yards. He also had a 65 yard kick return to set up SMU’s only scoring drive of the game.
