Landing any of the running backs in the 2015 class that have been offered would be an upgrade at the position for SMU, but there has to be some linemen to block for them. Nwigwe is a versatile, athletic offensive lineman who could get a chance to start right away. He’s played guard, right tackle and left tackle, which means he could step in at any of the positions and get going for SMU. SMU struggled to open up running lanes and needs an athletic line to run Chad Morris’ fast-paced scheme. Nwigwe would fill a major need if SMU can land his signature.

West was one of the first 2015 prospects to receive interest from the new coaching staff and the all-purpose back took notice when Chad Morris and is staff visited. West is a dynamic back with the ability to catch the ball out of the back field, run in between the tackles or even break off a long run on the outside. The senior can play from multiple spots on the field and has above average quickness, which fits perfectly in Morris' new offense. West said after his meeting with the new staff that education and early playing time are his top two priorities, which puts SMU in a very good spot to land West because they can obviously provide both. West plans to visit SMU in January, which will be a critical point in his recruitment with signing day fast approaching.

I can only dream that guys like DaMarkus Lodge are considering SMU, so I'll go with a more realistic option: Coppell RB Charles West. His name hasn't been mentioned in the last week or so because of Xavier Jones' offer, but I still think he's the best back out there that SMU is looking at. His speed and athleticism would make him an immediate contributor in SMU's offense. I expect the running game to be much better next year because of the Chad Morris' spread offense, and West would be a perfect fit. He's a must-get for SMU, but I also think SMU should look for 2-3 RBs for this class.

Yes it is always nice to get a big win over your biggest rival, but this win would be exactly what SMU needs to kick off the Chad Morris era. Morris and his staff have gained a lot of momentum over the last couple of weeks because of their reputation with Texas high school coaches, as well as, players. This win, however, would get the attention of even the most casual student at SMU. If SMU hopes to completely rebuild the football program, coach Morris is right; the students are going to need to be involved. Ford Stadium needs to become a place where SMU has a home-field advantage before this team can really go where they want to go. A win over TCU, at TCU, would go a long way towards establishing credibility for this staff amongst the casual fans, as well as, the dedicated fans. A win over TCU would also build excitement for the players on the current roster, as well as, prospective recruits that SMU is looking at. Put simply, all I want for Christmas is a win over TCU September 19, at their place.
Hatts: A win over TCU
I love this kid’s game. He has great instincts and can play the ball well. My favorite thing about him though is his tackling ability. Watching his tape, you can see that if he gets his hands on a runner they are going down. What’s even more impressive is when he gets his whole body on a guy- it’s like they are running into a wall. You can never have too many playmakers on defense. Hayden Greenbauer’s departure from the secondary leaves a gigantic hole- not just in ability, but in leadership. I don’t think McGruder could come in and be that guy as a freshman, but I do think he could be that guy eventually.
