How it Happened
SMU played possibly its best half of basketball during the first frame of Wednesday’s blowout 83-49 win over USF. In the second half, SMU continues to shut down USF’s offensive efforts and held on for the win.
What it Means
SMU extends its winning streak to eight straight games and begins conference play in the American with an unbeaten record.
Player of the Game
Ben Moore: Moore had another double-digit scoring night- his second in a row. Hopefully this means he is back on track. Prior to the last two games, Moore had been held to four points by UIC and shut out by Michigan. He finished with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals against USF.
SMU shot 52 percent from the field while holding USF to 36.5 percent. Coming into tonight’s game, The Mustangs were No. 1 in field goal percentage, while USF was No. 2. The Mustangs held the Trio of Corey Allen, Chris Perry, and Anthony Collins below their combined average of 39.5 points. They totaled just 21 points.
The Mustangs will travel to Cincinnati for their first American Athletic Conference road game of the season on Jan. 3. Tip off is slated for 1o a.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2. (ESPN2)
