1. FocusCould SMU have made more of a statement for what life after Keith Frazier will be like? Granted it was ECU coming into SMU’s building at 8-9, but the team was on point from the beginning and the defense was terrific. SMU limited ECU to 22 points in the first half and seven points in the first 12 minutes of the second half. The Pirates had no answer for SMU with how locked in the Mustangs were.
Manuel’s first two shots sinking was just a preview of his night. Manuel finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Manuel’s defense set the tone for the game and SMU rolled to the win. It was a big step in Manuel’s final season to showing the conference that SMU will still be the team to beat.
2. Ryan Manuel
SMU racked up 21 assists and had five players in double figures and had Yanick Moreira with eight points as well. An incredible night for SMU offensively in the second half especially.

1. Free ThrowsSMU got to the line 19 times and converted 11 free throws, which isn’t atrocious and had no affect on the outcome of the game, but it could be better. Down the line, SMU will need to make free throws in some close AAC games so more work from the charity stripe will be necessary.
Alright I’m really stretching here since SMU was on a roll offensively, but East Carolina had seven points in the first 12 minutes and finished 25 points in the final eight minutes. SMU threw a few of the reserves out there towards the end, but there was a time that the starters were still out there and ECU was draining threes. Again, I’m stretching.
2. Second Half mini-slump
Emelogu really didn’t have a terrible game, but scored just five points on 2-8 shooting. He’s at least firing and trying to get out of his shooting slump.
