Delontae Scott Signing Day Profile

Scott breaks down Irving Nimitz OLB & SMU signee Delontae Scott!

Video Breakdown: Delontae Scott

SENIOR YEAR STATS: 46 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks & 1 interception.
COMMITTED TO SMU OVER: California, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota and Kansas State.
SIDE NOTE: Scott hopes to study business while at SMU.
AUDIBLE: “It’s in Dallas, and I was raised in Dallas, and I always see SMU stuff passing through malls or driving place, so it’s just real nice to call home finally,” Scott said.

How Delontae Scott fits

Scott will come in and will contribute off of the edge, it’s just a matter of whether he’s at outside linebacker or defensive end. Delontae’s brother, Michael, will likely contribute as a defensive end, so I could see Delontae ending up as an outside linebacker down the road.

What Delontae Scott brings

Delontae has good athleticism and will use his length to his advantage no matter where he lines up. With some added weight, this Scott brother could become a dangerous pass rusher for the Mustangs.

What to Expect Freshman Year

Scott needs to to his freshman year to bulk up, so I expect the Nimitz High School product to redshirt and come back bigger and stronger in 2016.

Career Expectations for Delontae Scott

Don’t be surprised if both Delontae and Michael Scott are starting by their senior season here at SMU. Both have the framework to become dangerous pass rushers and should have opportunities to contribute significantly as upperclassmen.
