SMU HC Larry Brown Q&A

SMU G Nic Moore Q&A

Back to the Basics

With no specific opponent to prepare for just yet, the Mustangs focused on some of their fundamentals to start practice off. The team worked on quick, accurate passing, while also throwing in some pick-n-rolls and alley oops at Coach Brown’s request. Nic Moore continued to be the vocal leader of this team, constantly encouraging his teammates and dishing out instructions.

Ben Moore

Coach Brown said it’s imperative for both Ben’s to regain their confidence before Friday’s first-round game, and Ben Moore seemed to take a step in the right direction. Moore looked confident dribbling the ball and shot well from inside the paint.

Ben Emelogu

Ben Emelogu, the other Ben that Coach Brown is hoping can improve his play, struggled during practice today. On a couple of occasions he found himself out of place, which led to some constructive criticism from Coach Brown. He also struggled to find his shot throughout practice.

Practice Quick Hits:

— Players were in good spirits after clinching the AAC regular-season title, but there was still a sense of urgency because this team believes what they accomplished on Sunday was expected of them.

— Overall, practice started off sloppy but things were cleaned up as practice went on. Passes got sharper and baskets came easier.

— There weren’t really any outside shots taken. The team worked on passing until they found an easy shot inside the paint.

Cannen Cunningham continued to play with confidence, throwing down a few dunks and draining a couple midrange jumpers. He was also active on the defensive end, intercepting a pass from Semi Ojeleye.
