Robert Seals was a two-star Scout.com recruit, who was selected to the Houston Chronicle's Top 100 list after recording 13 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles as a senior. The three-time first-team All-District selection didn't have any other offers, but was ranked No. 31 at defensive end in Texas.
Seals was one of the few players on SMU's defense to play in all 12 games including 11 starts at outside linebacker. His 48 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and one sack were okay numbers on a defense that struggled to keep linemen off of the second level all season. The defensive line didn't free up the linebackers, which is key in SMU's old 3-4 defense. Seals has always been one of the most athletic linebackers since arriving on The Hilltop, but like the season last year, he's failed to really step up.
