How Spears fits

Noah Spears is a huge piece of the puzzle for SMU next season especially in their ongoing question to stop the run better than they did last year. Spears is not going to spend anytime at the STAR for the Mustangs but will rather be a true linebacker that can get after the quarterback and help improve the defensive tackling performance.

What Spears brings

Spears solidifies a linebacker group that just didn’t have any reliable leader last season. The highly regarded linebacker brings dependability to SMU that they simply haven’t had in a while.

What to Expect Freshman Year

Spears is still going to be adjusting to the collegiate game and the speed of the game, however he has the talent to come in right away and contribute. SMU’s run defense is going to benefit tremendously from having a guy like Spears in the middle to hold down the fort and keep SMU’s defense organized.

Career Expectations for Spears

As Spears continues to grow at SMU, he is going to be one of the best players to come out of this class just because of how physically talented he already is. There was definitely a reason so many schools were after Spears and SMU is going to reap the rewards of getting him throughout his time at SMU.
