SENIOR YEAR STATS: 125 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception
COMMITTED TO SMU OVER: Air Force, Colorado State, Navy, UTSA
SIDE NOTE: Ward loves to travel. His favorite trip was a two-week vacation to Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California this past summer.
AUDIBLE: “As a little kid, you look up at the television and see college players and think, ‘That could be me one day.’ To actually be in this position is truly a blessing, to have a full scholarship to a great, beautiful university is a blessing.”

How Ward fits

Ward played outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense in high school and will play the Will or Mike linebacker for SMU. He’s a dependable tackler who can get off blocks from bigger players using his hands.

What Ward brings

Ward has a knack for being around the ball, whether he runs a play down from behind or runs across half the field to make it. He tackles low and uses his hands well.

What to Expect Freshman Year

This summer will be important for Ward to develop physically. If can fill out his 6-foot-3 frame, he should get a chance to play as a freshman due to SMU’s struggles at the position in 2015.

Career Expectations for Ward

Ward can develop into a starter by the time he finishes his college career, but it is important that he get stronger and play with a little more discipline on the edge. He’s an intelligent player capable of doing both.
