SIDE NOTE:Freeman was committed to SFA, but a spot open up in SMU's class allowing the Mustangs to add the underrated East Texas product.

How Freeman Fits

Freeman is that type of athlete that you'll see Chad Morris and company find each year to add to the class. Freeman can play either side of the ball and be successful. Freeman could be moved around on offense or be on the backend as a safety. I think you'll see him on offense as kind of a gadget player that can be moved around to start.

What Freeman Brings

Offensively, Freeman is elusive and has solid vision. He's able to locate the best running lanes and hit them fast. Freeman was the ultimate playmaker for his offense at quarterback and with that knowledge, he'd have the ability to diagnose plays early. Freeman peformed well on the camp circuit in the secondary so there's a chance he could be there too.

Expectations for Freeman's Freshman Year

It's tough to say, but with the depth right now at running back and receiver for SMU coming in, Freeman might be a candidate to redshirt right away. He could add a little bit of bulk to his frame if he wanted to, but he's just got to improve his top-end speed.

Career Expectations for Freeman

Freeman is an everything guy. He'll play multiple positions for the Mustangs and be available to provide a spark, but until we see him in pads at the college level, we're not sure how his speed will match up. He's a great playmaker with the ball in his hands, but will his great play from high school transfer over? Kevin Johnson had some growing pains in a similar role this past season so I think Freeman might be a player that takes some time to develop.
