SMU has certainly not been shy about inviting some of the top prospects in the nation to their junior days, and that was once again true with the 2017 Southern University Lab School (La.) Scout 4-star linebacker Chris Allen stopping by.
“I enjoyed it a lot, it’s very nice, nicer than what I expected,” Allen said, “Coaches were very nice, it was just nice there.”
Allen wasn’t sure what to expect when he got there but was impressed with SMU facilities after getting to see the stadium and the campus.
“It was very nice, it was nicer than I expected and I enjoyed most of it,” Allen said.
Before the visit, Allen had not spent much time talking with the staff aside from SMU grad assistant Chris Scott Jr. Allen did meet though with the SMU coaches later on in the visit.
“Not a lot, we just started,” Allen said, “I haven’t really got a feel for their personality yet but I think I got it though. “
Scott has sung the praises of the 6-4, 222-pound linebacker who has offers from LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Mississippi State, Colorado State, Michigan State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas, and Tulane.
“They think I’m a great, that I’m the type of player that reminds SMU of the golden days,” Allen said.
Allen is not sure of the next time he will be back for a practice or if he will be able to attend the spring game.
As for when he plans to cut down his list, Allen plans to take some more visits over the next couple of months and cut down his list at the beginning of his senior season.
“I’m trying to go to Florida sometime this summer, Georgia, and Alabama,” Allen said.
Allen currently ranks as the number one linebacker by Scout.com and fourth overall at his position.
