2018 Louisiana DB talks SMU interest

Hatts talked with 2018 McDonogh 35 (La.) safety Joe Foucha about his SMU interest and recruitment.

2018 McDonogh 35 Senior HS (La.) safety Joseph Foucha has been hearing from a number of Power 5 schools so far in his recruitment, but one of those he continues to be keep in contact with is SMU.

SMU grad assistant Chris Scott Jr. has been leading the charge talking to Scott every other day at least, but Foucha says he has begun reaching out to the coaches more and more including plans for taking a visit up to see the school soon.

“He has just been talking about how he really wants me there,” Foucha said, “I have never really seen SMU at all so I would love to take a trip up there.”

Foucha is interested in getting a better feel of the campus and theater program, something he plans to pursue as a major down the road, but also get a sense of the team and how the coaches and players interact.

“I’m going to be looking at how the school is, their environment, the coaches, the players,” Foucha said.

So far the Louisiana safety has offers from Auburn, Memphis, Mississippi State, SMU, Texas A&M, Ball State, Cincinnati, Arizona, UMass, Texas, Arizona State, but has also been hearing from LSU, ULM and others.

The 6-0, 190 safety is content to let the process play out and has no plans to cut down his list anytime soon. That said, there are a few schools that have impressed him so far with how much they’ve kept in contact with him.

“SMU, A&M, Auburn and Arizona State those are the schools that have been reaching out to me the most right now, and the schools I’ve really been back and forth with,” Foucha said.

He maintained while staying close to home would be nice, he is going to make the decision that fits him best not what others want.
