2018 Greenhill HS (Tex.) wide receiver Kassidy Woods received his offer from SMU in June and has since loved the way the coaches handle the recruiting process.
“I visited SMU last year for their spring game and coach Craddock and coach Morris have just been so open to the process of calling me, talking to me,” Woods said.
During this process, the coaches have stressed they are just a couple players away from competing and Woods could be one of those players.
“They just said it is going to be a process to get them there, I know they are practically in year 3 now and that I’m the number one guy, academically it’s a great school so I know I would be able to succeed there not only athletically but academically.
The 6-2, 191-pound receiver plans to take a visit to SMU in the coming weeks for a game and to see what SMU has to offer, especially how the coaching staff handles different situations.
“Definitely think coaching is one of them, obviously, how does the offense pass the ball out there, just to see coaches looking out for you not only athletically,” Woods said.
The Greenhill receiver currently just has offers from Iowa State and SMU, but has recently also been hearing from Texas and Notre Dame.
As he looks to garner more interest down the road, Woods has been working on a couple different aspects of his game in hopes of becoming a more complete receiver.
“Couple of the things I have been working on is my footwork, speed, and just simply my IQ of the game,” Woods said.
As a sophomore in 2015, Woods caught 39 passes for 830 yards and 8 touchdowns, while in 2016 he currently has 24 catches for 489 yards and five touchdowns.
