Report: Freshman guard Tom Wilson transferring from SMU

SMU freshman guard Tom Wilson will reportedly transfer from the program

SMU is losing a second player due to a midseason transfer.

According to a report from Fox Sports Australia, freshman guard Tom Wilson has decided to transfer from SMU. PonyStampede or SMU has yet to confirm the move.

In 10 games at SMU, Wilson averaged 1.6 points 1.0 rebounds in 6.1 minutes per game. He did not play in three of SMU's games this season and played in fewer than two minutes in two others.

Wilson's transfer comes 11 days after freshman forward and fellow Australian Harry Froling decided to leave SMU. The two were both members of SMU's 2016 recruiting class. SMU now has seven eligible scholarship players for the rest of the year. With Froling and Wilson's departure, Dashawn McDowell is the only remaining player from SMU's 2016 class.

This is the second season in a row SMU has lost two players to midseason transfers. Sedrick Barefield and Keith Frazier left the program last winter. Their departures also left SMU with seven scholarship players for the remainder of the season.
