2018 Manvel (Tex.) wide receiver Kam Scott took in SMU's prospect day and offensive coordinator Joe Craddock and wide receivers coach Justin Stepp didn't take long to extend an offer.
"It was good. I liked the school and everything they showed me. It was a really good visit," Scott said. "Coach Craddock pulled me to the side and introduced me to coach Stepp. When I was talking to coach Stepp and taking pictures, they said they were offering me. I was speechless."
Craddock and Stepp talked with Scott for a good while at the prospect day and Scott said just how confident they were said a lot.
"I really like them. They seem like good coaches and everything. They really know a lot of stuff and how it gets done round there," the 6-2, 160-pound receiver said. "I was really impressed with what they were saying."
After getting his offer, Scott met with SMU head coach Chad Morris, who talked about the priorities of SMU football players.
"It's a pretty good school to go to and a pretty good opportunity, but I don't know yet," Scott said. "He was telling me how they do stuff and grades come first. Football comes last, they want to graduate me first before anything. My parents and I like that."
When meeting with the coaches, the staff told Scott they won't to get the ball in his hands due to his speed and ability to get to the edge.
"They said that they want to use me to get the ball in my hands early and to run. They said I can run," Scott said. "They just coming up and they're a good team. They throw the ball a lot."
Bowling Green has also offered while Texas, Texas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have been showing interest. Iowa and Iowa State are getting visits from Scott later this spring.
