How Medlock fits

SMU has five running backs returning next season, and though Medlock would likely bring a lot of explosiveness to SMU’s offense, he looks like a redshirt candidate because of that depth in front of him.

What Medlock brings

He is very fast and is physical enough to shed would be tacklers. He runs a 4.40-40 and on tape he seems even faster with the ball in his hands. He has some serious home-run ability.

Expectations for freshman year

SMU has a full stable of veteran runners, so he’ll likely redshirt. Xavier Jones, Braeden West, Ke'Mon Freeman, Aphonso Thomas and Jordan Carmouche (if he stays at running back) all have at least two years of eligibility left.

Career expectations for Medlock

There is a lot to like about Medlock. He has good size and is a physical runner when he needs to be, but his speed makes him special. Once he gets on the field for SMU he should be a lot of fun to watch. He could easily be a multi-year starter, but with the depth SMU has at running back, starter doesn't necessarily mean feature back.
