Will Brown committed to SMU in January, and he is sure about his decision.
"I'm holding my commitment," Brown said. "I'm going to SMU. That's my favorite school, my number one school. We've been talking since my freshman year. I love everybody there; it's like a big family there. I can't wait to be a part of it."
Brown loves SMU's staff, and he is close with coaches Joe Craddock and Chad Morris in particular.
"I've been talking to them since my freshman year," Brown said. "I caught their eye and they believed in me. They helped me push through and told me I could be the best. So we built a bond, and it progressed."
The future Engineering major visited SMU a couple of weeks ago, and he was impressed by what they showed him.
"They showed me the facility, the training room, the academic part of the school, and they showed me how they're gonna communicate with my parents while I'm there. It was very fun," Brown said.
The 6-4, 195 pound signal caller is excited to play in SMU's offense, and he listed some reasons why this is the case.
"They run a spread. They've got really good receivers there," Brown said. "The offensive line is a little bit better. A lot of recruits are coming in, and the Hilltop is on the rise."
Brown was the first 2018 commit that SMU landed, and he is quarterback. Thus, he considers himself a leader of this 2018 SMU class.
"I gotta set the tone for the incoming 2018 class, and show them what we need to do to build SMU up to where they need to be" Brown said. "My plan is to take them to where they want to be, and that's a championship."
Brown is already carrying out his responsibility as a leader. He is talking to his friends about potentially coming to SMU and bringing them to prospect days. None of them have offers yet, though.
New schools are still coming after Brown, but he is focused on staying at SMU.
"A couple showed interest, but I don't want to mention other schools. I'm fully committed to SMU," Brown said.
