Ventura (Calif.) offensive tackle Maisen Knight isn't sure just yet if he will be returning to Ventura for the fall or heading off to college, but he has options to sort though including SMU, where he took an official visit to last weekend.
"It was great, really enjoyed SMU. Was my favorite visit so far, and they're the top school that has offered as of now," Knight told Scout.
SMU's coaching staff made Knight feel at home on his visit and the campus and Dallas impressed him.
"Felt really comfortable and am a big fan of their staff. I like how family oriented they focus to be," Knight said. "Coach Fry is a great guy. Dallas is a great city too."
The staff shared their plans and how Knight would fill a big need for them as the staff looks for offensive tackles to work in for SMU. http://www.scout.com/junior-college-football/story/1769642-schools-are-k...
"They just shared more about themselves and their backgrounds, SMU's motives and where it is headed to in the future," Knight said.
A decision on whether to return to Ventura for the fall or head off to college will come after spring football ends, but SMU made a big impression on him.
"I'm still in the middle of spring ball, talking to multiple power 5 schools," said the 6-5, 300-pound lineman. "However after the trip, SMU is a top school as of now. Still deciding if I return to Ventura for another year to develop more or to leave after this semester."
Other schools in the mix include Arizona, Texas Tech, UCLA and Washington State. The Bruins may get an unofficial visit from Knight this weekend, who has two official visits left.
