On April 27, SMU offensive lineman coach Dustin Fry visited Riverside City College (JUCO) offensive lineman Keli'i Montibon in practice, and offered him.
Montibon was excited about the offer when he got it, but after having limited contact with SMU’s staff he is no longer considering SMU an option anymore.
“I’m thankful that they offered but I think I’m gonna go ahead and move on,” Montibon said. “I haven’t really been in contact with any of the coaches at all.”
While Montibon will probably not attend SMU, conference rival Houston is still coming after him. The 6’4”, 285-pound lineman also listed Oregon State as a school that is recruiting him hard.
Montibon wants to make his decision in the next couple of weeks, and hopes to visit some of his schools before he decides. However, he has not lined anything up yet. He has narrowed down his list of offers, a little bit, but still has an array of options.
“There are a couple of blueshirts,” he said. Utah, Oregon State and Houston are still in the mix.”
