One of West Texas' top athletes picked up a new offer this past week.

Abilene Cooper's athlete Will Ford confirmed Sunday with PonyStampede.com that the standout free safety now has an offer from Southern Methodist University.

"SMU offered me this past week," Ford said. "I'm excited; it was great to get another offer."

Ford, who already is holding offers from TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Nebraska , is happy about his latest offer.

"I'm looking forward on taking a visit to SMU and check out the campus," Ford said. "SMU is recruiting me really hard, big time right now. I plan on attending camp there this summer."

Ford, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound athlete who runs a 4.38 forty, started at free safety and returned kickoffs for his high school team last fall.

"Most schools are recruiting me as a safety," Ford commented. "Some schools are wanting me as an athlete. I wouldn't mind playing on both sides of the ball."

According to Ford, the standout athlete has no immediate favorite.

"I love all the schools that have offered me," Ford said. "I look forward to learning a lot more about SMU."

Ford doesn't hesitate in describing his talents.

"My speed and my hitting are two of my biggest strengths," Ford said. "I love to attack the ball carrier. I love to hit and I love the game of football."

Ford has a 2.7 G.P.A and will take the SAT for the first time on May 3.
